Relief Society; A Celebration of Sisters

The Bloomington 7th Ward sisters celebrated the Birthday of Relief Society tonight with the 2nd annual "Soup Kitchen" and "Second Time Around" swap.

The cultural hall was the scene of the happy event.  Delicious varieties of soups were served along with generous slices of chocolate sheet cake.  We were also blessed to have the Stake Relief Society President, Sis. Hyer attending the festivities.

Part of the program for the evening included a lovely musical number as well as a fashion show put on by the Young Women, modeling clothes donated for the swap event.

We are blessed to live in a ward filled with Sisters who willingly give, sacrifice and who uplift one another.  Sis. Temple related the experience she has had recently with illness and how so many of her RS sisters had brought in delicious food and sent their well wishes.  She reminded us of how wonderful the Relief Society program is throughout the world and how it benefits and creates a sisterhood wherever it exists.

Many thanks to those who worked so hard to make this evening such a success.  From the kitchen, to the decorating, for the advertising, for the fashion show and talent, to those who set up and took down and cleaned and for the free shopping experience.  Much effort went in to making this night memorable as we celebrated Relief Society and friendship.

  1. What fun to see so many of the sisters I love and miss immensely. Just wanted to "drop a line" and give an update on my mother, Marjory Handley. She is actually doing pretty good right now, though I know she would rather be in St. George. She was quite sick in November and we thought we might lose her, but she has really bounced back more than we expected. She doesn't get around as well as she did before she left St. George and uses a walker but still manages.

I hope to be able to get down there again, soon at least just for a weekend. I miss everyone so much and wish there were some way to split myself in half so I could be both places or at least get down there a little more often. You can email me at atwistedmom@gmail.com or call me on my cell at 801-390-5646 (new number) or at home in the evenings or weekends, 801-295-3649.

    Love you all,
    Zenda Rawlings
