Hiking the Quarry

The youth of Bloomington 7th Ward went and hiked the Temple Quarry Trail last night.  The trailhead begins on the backside of the old airport. They learned about the basalt rock quarried there and how it was carried down the butte on the underside of wagons and how and why President Brigham Young was inspired to build the Temple on a undesirable, swampy location.

They made their way along the trail quickly and returned back to the trailhead just as it was getting dark, where they enjoyed a treat supplied by the Teachers Quorum.

The youth will need to prepare themselves both spiritually and physically for the Trek they will be participating in during June.  Hiking and learning about the Temple are both great ways of preparing them.

It was a beautiful, warm evening with some amazing youth.

Thanks to all who came!
